Job announcements for March week 1...


Nestle
Food company Nestle is expanding its factory in Tutbury, Staffordshire. The 110m expansion of the site will create 300 jobs and 100 new apprenticeships and graduate roles. The investment will treble production capacity for Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee pods.

Hammerson
Hammerson is investing 20m in the expansion of Silverburn shopping centre in Glasgow, creating 350 new jobs. The 200,000 sq ft expansion will provide a multiplex cinema, nine new restaurants, new stores and a Gala bingo hall.

Tata Consultancy Services
Software services group Tata Consultancy Service is to open a new facility in Liverpool in the sumer 2013, creating and safeguarding up to 300 jobs. The new facility will deliver services to the Home Office, following a multi-million, multi-year contract which it won in November 2012.

Virgin Media
Broadband, cable TV, landline phone and mobile services provider Virgin Media is to expand its operations at Swansea Enterprise Park in Wales. Two hundred and thirty new jobs will be created as a direct result.

Legal & General Property
Plans by Legal & General Property for a 15m extension to Midsummer Place Shopping Centre in Milton Keynes, are expected to create 150 full time jobs, plus 70 temporary construction jobs. The improvements could add 57,000 sq ft of new retail space.

The Miller Group
Miller has started a major development at The Walnuts shopping centre in Orpington, Kent. A 15,500 sq ft former job centre is being demolished to make way for a cinema, three restaurants and four retail units. 130 new jobs are expected. A free Wi-Fi service has been launched at the centre in partnership with The Cloud.

Facebook
Social network company Facebook is to create 100 jobs in Dublin. The new positions at the company’s European headquarters will range across ICT, sales and human resources. The company already employs 400 staff at its base in Dublin.

Wren Kitchens
Wren Kitchens is investing in a 5m paint line at its Scunthorpe furniture-making factory, creating 100 jobs. A second plant may be built to meet demand from UK customers and the company is seeking a suitable location. Since 2011 the number of jobs at the Scunthorpe factory has trebled to 250.

Hinduja
Indian company, Hinduja Global Solutions, are expanding theirs TalkTalk operations in Preston, hiring 70 new staff.

Expert Logistics
North West home delivery business Expert Logistics is creating 70 jobs with the launch of a depot in West Yorkshire. The 1.3 acre site in Garforth near Leeds has been acquired on a long term lease and will enable the company to deliver white goods to regional customers within seven days.

J Rotherham Masonry
East Yorkshire masonry firm J Rotherham Masonry is hoping to expand its business, which could create 50 new jobs. The company wants to create a workshop for the 50 new operatives to handle the raw material coming in.

Ashok Leyland
Ashok Leyland, an India-based commercial vehicle manufacturer, is opening a research and development centre at the MIRA Technology Park in Warwickshire. The centre is expected to create 30 jobs. Ashok Motors is part of the Hinduja Group, one of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in India.

Ultraframe
Clitheroe based conservatory manufacturer Ultraframe is to take on 30 new members of staff to meet the needs of the growth in business. The appointments will take the total workforce to more than 250 employees and an annual turnover of £26.1m

Altran UK Holding
Altran, a global engineering consultancy, has opened an office in Coventry, West Midlands, as part of its expansion strategy. The company has undergone five years of continued growth from its Cambridge office. David Fidalgo will head up the new office which currently houses five staff. This could increase to 30 as expansion continues. Turnover 1.7m.
8Over8
8Over8m, a Londonderry software company, is creating 30 new jobs in the city with an investment of £2.7m. The jobs are primarily in software development, but also in consultancy, marketing and accounts management.

Thirsty Horses
Thirsty Horses, a Liverpool-based firm that specialises in HR software, has secured 500,000 funding from the North West Fund. The company plans to recruit 29 people over three years and increase sales of its Inspire system.

Accenture
Service and outsourcing supplier Accenture is appointing 20 apprentices to join its North Tyneside team, from May 2013. The scheme offers a Higher Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals, including a Foundation Degree and Level 4 BTEC Diploma.

Rock Farm Dairy
Durham-based Rock Farm Dairy has doubled turnover to 12m after it was bought out of administration by UK Dairy Sales (UKDS) in May 2012. The site now produces 400,000 litres of locally produced milk every week. UKDS has invested 12m, creating 12 new jobs and the company has plans to double turnover in five years.

XL Insurance Company
XL Insurance is opening an office in Manchester to grow its business with middle market clients and brokers. The company has appointed Mick Turvey as regional underwriting manager, UK middle markets, to head-up the new operation. Two underwriters will also be recruited.
