Job announcements for Feb week 4....


Kiddicare.com
Peterborough hi-tech firm Active8 IT has won a major contract with babycare provider Kiddicare. The company has signed a three year deal to install a fully managed Citrix support system into 10 new superstores, which will employ 30 to 40 staff each.

Caterpillar
Caterpillar (NI) is creating 200 jobs as part of an expansion of its Shared Services Centre in Belfast. Invest NI is supporting the expansion with £1.275m funding. FG Wilson plants in Newtownabbey, Belfast and Larne were re-branded as Caterpillar (Northern Ireland) in January 2013.

Forever21
American fashion firm Forever21 is to open its first franchise in Scotland in the 70 million Buchanan Quarter development in Glasgow. One hundred and fifty new jobs will be created as a direct result. The company has a UK turnover of 3,390,557.

BMW
BMW is recruiting 150 new apprentices to work across its UK operations in a range of disciplines including manufacturing, maintenance, quality and logistics. The placements are for three to four years, starting in August 2013.

Hydro Industries
A joint venture between Hydro Industries and US business T&T Salvage is set to create 100 new jobs. The joint venture will launch Hydro in the US emergency response arena.

Careconcepts
Manchester care provider CareConcepts and property development company Primesite Developments are developing a new care home in St Helens, Merseyside. The 4.5m Madison Court home will open in spring 2013 and cater for 66 people with dementia.

Marlowe Innovation Centre
Marlowe Innovation Centre in Ramsgate, Kent, is to receive a £350,000 grant from the Coastal Communities Fund, allowing it to build a £1m extension that will double its accommodation and support services to local businesses. The investment could create 75 jobs.

S. Cartwright & Sons
Cheshire based manufacturer Cartwright Group has secured an agreement with RBS to refinance its debt and provide backing for investment. During 2012 the company has increased its market share the UK parcel, retail and transport sectors, invested in facilities and staff and created a new apprenticeship programme catering for 70 apprentices.

Seven Technologies
Northern Ireland based engineering firm Seven Technologies is expanding following support of £854,000 from Invest NI. The expansion will enable the company to tender for more and bigger contracts and increase its portfolio. Sixty one new jobs will be created as a direct result.

Rigid Containers
Rigid Containers is investing 6m at Chelston Business Park, in Wellington, Somerset. It plans to move into the former Cooperative Distribution warehouse, creating 30 to 40 jobs initially, with further jobs expected. The site will manufacture corrugated packaging. Taunton Deane Borough Council is contributing 1,000 per new job.

Winning Blend
Pontyclun-based Winning Blend, which trades as The Welsh Pantry, is creating 34 new jobs after a £3.3m investment. The funding has been used to invest in new equipment and increased its production capacity leading to the creation of 34 new jobs and has also directly increased turnover by £9m.

Deeley Properties
Deeley Properties has started work on a new trade park for Travis Perkins at Queensway, Leamington, West Midlands. It is expected to open later in 2013, creating 30 new jobs. Deeley is also building a major scheme for Orbit Homes at Queensway.

Bellcom Worldwide
Glasgow based contact centre Bellcom Worldwide has gained two outsource contracts, with Investors in People and an unnamed financial services provider. Twenty new people have joined the Bellcom team.

Francis Clark Llp
Chartered accountant Francis Clark has increased its Plymouth office to 8,000 sq ft after doubling the number of Plymouth-based staff to 70 over six years. 20 more jobs will be created. The company has experienced growth in tax, corporate and family business services, with further opportunities identified.

Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network (WREN)
Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network (WREN) has secured additional government funding of £100,000 to help sustain and develop social enterprise opportunities through renewable energy installation, product development and support for green tourism. One direct full-time job and 19 indirect jobs have been created as a result. Professor Stephen Frankel is Chairman of WREN.

Reays Coaches
Cumbrian bus firm Reays is ending several routes into Carlisle in March 2013, with 30 job losses, due to the routes not performing as well as expected and competition from rival operator Stagecoach. Reays expects to create 15 jobs in 2013 at depots in Egremont and Penrith due to service expansion.

Emerald Biogas
Emerald Biogass new £8m plant in County Durham, which will convert food waste into electricity, will open in May 2013. Eight new jobs will be created as a direct result. It will be the first plant of its kind in the North East.

Birmingham Assay Office
Birmingham Assay Office has secured a £1.2m European Union grant, supporting its plans for new premises in Birmingham jewellery quarter. This grant will help the Assay Office to expand its analysis and testing of metals and precious material operation, a part of its business which is expanding. It will safeguard 100 jobs and create six more.

Mind Candy
London-based Mind Candy is appointing 6 marketing staff, including a head of marketing, as it expands its Moshi Monsters brand into new international markets. It is also adding extra products to its growing list of Intellectual Properties. Mind Candy, which is estimated to be worth £200m, has a multi-million pound marketing budget.
