Manganese Bronze, the manufacturer of the iconic black cab that went into administration last month, has been saved by a British company. The company had gone into administration following problems with a Chinese manufactured steering box which forced it to recall 400 taxis. The company’s administrators, PricewaterhouseCoopers has now announced that the recalled fleet would be fitted with parts from a UK supplier and be back on the road by December 14th. This has saved the jobs of the employees at Manganese Bronze. PricewaterhouseCooper’s, which had been urgently trying to find a solution to the steering Box problem, said: “The company’s employees will be part of a massive effort to begin fitting the new UK-supplied steering box to the recalled fleet within the next 48 hours.” However, it is unclear whether Manganese Bronze will have a long term future. The recall was the latest in a series of problems for the company. Last year it had to recall 5,400 taxis after several caught fire and it has failed to make a profit since 2007.
