Job announcements for November week 4....


J Sainsbury
An extra 5000 seasonal jobs are being created across the UK by supermarket Sainsbury's. The jobs are to meet increased customer demand over the festive period and are in addition to the 1500 announced in September. With such a large increase in jobs, roles will be available across a range positions.

Science and Technology Facilities Council
The Science and Technology Facilities Council and its joint venture partners have secured 10m from the Regional Growth Fund and are planning an office and laboratory development at Sci-Tech Daresbury, a science and innovation campus in Cheshire.

Make It Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire
Make It Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire created 1,194 jobs in North Staffordshire from April-November 2012, by persuading firms to relocate to the area. The service has pledged to create 500 more by the end of the financial year as part of the city council Mandate for Change.

Sse
Revised plans for an extension to Keadby Power Station which is set to bring the creation of 490 jobs and cost up to £350m have been submitted.

The Money Group
Cornwall-based financial services business The Money Group is opening a new call centre in Plymouth, creating 300 jobs. The company expects to record a profit of £2m in 2013. Tony Murtagh is managing director.

Landis + Gyr
Landis + Gyr, which manufactures smart meters and pre-paid meters, is quadrupling the size of its Greater Manchester operations and recruiting a further 200 people over four years. It is experiencing growing demand from consumers who wish to reduce their energy bills.

Worldpay
London-based payment processing company WorldPay is looking for a base in Manchester in a move expected to create at least 200 new jobs in the city. 25,000 sq ft office in Manchester city centre.

Cardiff Aviation
Aircraft repair business Cardiff Aviation is seeking funding to make a new type of diesel engine for boats. The company plans to increase its workforce from 30 to 200 by November 2013. Bruce Dickinson owns the company, which is based at a 132,000 sq ft hanger in St Athan, South Glamorgan.

City College Brighton and Hove
Proposals for the redevelopment of City College Brighton & Hove include a new further education college, student accommodation to be managed by the University of Brighton, and 127,014 sq ft of learning facilities. The development could attract £73.4m of inward investment and create 124 construction jobs.

UK Space Agency
European Space Agency (ESA) is creating 100 jobs in Harwell, Oxfordshire, where it is establishing a new telecoms satellite monitoring headquarters for the whole of Europe. The new centre will be responsible for research and development of new telecommunications satellites.

Romax Technology
Engineering company Romax Technology has signed an initial ten-year lease on a £5.6m, 33,400 sq ft, three-storey academic research building due for development at the University of Nottingham Innovation Park (UNIP). The company is also planning to create approximately 100 jobs in Nottingham between 2012 and 2017 as part of its business expansion strategy.

Tharsus Engineering
Manufacturer Tharsus, based in Blyth in South Northumberland, has opened a new factory after securing a grant of £690,000 from the governments Regional Growth Fund. The grant is part of a £3m investment to refurbish its site with new technology and equipment. Eighty jobs will be created, including apprenticeships.

Capita Group
Outsourcing firm Capita Group is expanding its TV Licensing operation in Darwen, Lancashire. It will recruit 50 more back office administration personnel in January 2013 and 20 new inbound call handlers. Capita has created 230 new jobs in Darwen in 2012, primarily in the call centre.

Wilsonslaw
Law firm Wilsons has signed a 15-year lease on a 31,000 sq ft office in Salisbury, Wiltshire. 164 staff have relocated from four offices in the city and Wilsons plans to create 36 new jobs.

Rg+P
Leicester based architectural firm Rg+p has seen its turnover grow 8 per cent to £1.4m, taken on 35 more staff, and plans a new London office after making it through the economic downturn.

Power On Connections
Electricity connection services company Power On Connections has opened a new office in Childerditch, Essex. The company has created 30 new jobs following an increase in workload over the 12 months to November 2012.

Vivid Resourcing
Vivid Resourcing, a London-based recruitment company, has opened an office in the Netherlands and may open one in Germany amid growing demand for skilled engineers. The company has 29 staff and plans to recruit 15 more. Turnover is expected to double from £7m in the year to April 2012 to between £14m and £15m in 2013/14.

Elring Klinger
Redcar-based ElringKlinger GB has secured a contract to engineer and supply underbody heat shields to BMW Mini. It will invest 2.5m euros into an embossing line, automated press and specialist gluing equipment machine as a result of the contract.

Lewis Silkin LLP
law firm Lewis Silkin has opened a branch in Cardiff. The new office will employ ten staff by the end of 2013. The company received a £160,000 business finance grant from the Welsh Government.

Harrison Clark Llp
Law firm, Harrison Clark, has expanded into the upper floor of its Hereford office which opened in March 2012, after recruiting five additional legal staff. The firm also has offices in Cheltenham, Ross-on-Wye and Worcester.

Suffolk Secrets
Expanding holiday lettings company Suffolk Secrets and sister brand Southwold Lettings are creating five new jobs after a successful summer season. The company has appointed a new property recruiter and four new reservations assistants. Website visits are expected to reach 400,000 in 2012.

Pearson Engineering
Pearson Engineering Services , part of Reece Group, has appointed four new apprentices onto its apprenticeship scheme. The company currently employs 200 staff and has a turnover of £2.3m.
