Job announcements for November week 2 ...

Mira
Mira Limited has opened the first phase of a £300m expansion at a vehicle testing centre near Hinckley, Leicestershire. A £6m control centre has opened at the 1.75 million sq ft campus. 2,000 jobs are expected to be created at the MIRA Technology Park, in ten years.

Royal Mail Group
Royal Mail Group is investing 75m in its growing UK express parcels business, creating 1,000 new jobs. A new parcel processing centre will open in Chorley, Lancashire, in 2013. Two new depots will open in Cornwall and Hampshire, and nine existing depots with be expanded or moved to larger sites over the four years to 2016.

Ryanair UK
Budget airline Ryanair is to launch a series of new routes out of the East Midlands and the North West. The company will be running nine new services and adding two aircraft at East Midlands, Manchester and Liverpool airports from summer 2013. Up to one thousand jobs will be created as a direct result.

Vanquis Bank
Vanquis Bank, a subsidiary of moneylending firm Provident Financial Group opening a new office in Bradford following faster than expected growth. Vanquis Bank, which offers credit cards and savings products, is already recruiting 250 new call centre staff and plans to recruit a further 250.

NHS Lothian
NHS Lothian health board in Scotland are investing 10m and is recruiting the equivalent of 250 full-time workers in an attempt to reduce waiting times for patients. Extra doctors, nurses and pharmacists are expected to be recruited.

Sitel
Sitel, a leading customer care outsourcing provider, has announced a recruitment drive to fill 200 new roles in its Stratford upon Avon contact centre. Following a spate of recent client wins, including a leading retailer, a major government contract and two other major brands, Sitel Stratford is now expanding operations by over 30%. Capgemini
Outsourcing firm Capgemini is increasing its apprentice intake from 98 to 200 in 2012. The company has seen an increase in applications from school leavers. It plans to recruit a further 230 in 2013.

Ocado Group
Online shopping giant Ocado is to create approximately 200 jobs across all disciplines at a new £5 million state-of-the-art depot in Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire. The new AutoStore will open in Spring 2013 and will store and distribute non-food stock with a robotic sorting device driving the project.

Travelodge Hotels
Budget hotel chain Travelodge is to create approximately 200 jobs before Christmas 2012 by opening nine new hotels. The jobs will be across all disciplines including receptionists, housekeepers and cleaners in areas including London, Sunderland and Hartlepool in the North East, Liverpool in Merseyside and Llanelli in Wales.

Holroyd Precision
Lancashire-based gear, screw and rotor machinery manufacturer Holroyd Precision, has won a £2.8m grant from the UK Governments Regional Growth Fund which it will use to support the development of a new manufacturing facility and a new European R&D and Innovation Centre.

Swansea University
Swansea University is to receive 12m of UK government funding to develop and energy safety research institute (ESRI). 38m will be invested in the ESRI, which will offer 150 professional jobs, as well as construction jobs. Swansea University is also leading the Life Science Wales project, backed by 228,973 from the Welsh Governments European-funded Academic Expertise for Business collaboration.

Direct Save Telecom
Telecommunications company Direct Save Telecom plans to create 120 new jobs in 2013 after launching a new value phone and broadband package. The new jobs will be in the company's business centre for customer care, administration and sales.

UTC Plymouth
Plymouth City Council is investing 7.9m in a new University Technical College. Approximately 100 full-time jobs will be created as a direct result. The college will cater for up to 650 14 to 19-year-olds and is expected to open in September 2013.

Ardagh Metal Packaging
Ardagh Metal Packaging is expanding its site in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, creating 90 jobs. Aerosol production lines and component presses are moving to the site from its plant in Merthyr, South Wales, which is closing in 2013. The Nottinghamshire factory, which currently makes metal food packaging, employs 120 people.

Arena Group
Arena Group, the document management services company, plans to take on 70 new staff over the next three years after moving ahead of its projected targets. The company currently has 150 employees and has grown annual turnover from £12m in 2008 to £17m this year.

Grant Thornton
Business adviser Grant Thornton has employed 65 Audit Commission staff in the South West, making it the largest provider of assurance and advisory services to public sector bodies in the region. 85 staff are now employed in the area. Sarah Howard is national head of public sector assurance.

KPMG
KPMG has created 57 jobs at its public sector practice in Leeds, West Yorkshire, after winning £4.2m of local government audit work. The company will take on the staff previously employed by the Audit Commission, which has been closed. The Leeds office will employ 100 staff in total.

North Bristol NHS Trust
North Bristol NHS Trust in Avon is building a new 430m hospital in Southmead, north of Bristol, Avon. Jobs have been created as a direct result with 55 apprentices also being recruited to work on the development.

Baa Bar
Forty jobs are expected to be created when a national bar chain Baa Bar Group opens its first site in Yorkshire as part of a strategy to establish itself as a national brand. The company plans to open 10 bars over the next five years across major cities in the UK.

Custard Media
Marketing agency Custard Media is to create 25 jobs over the next 12 months after a string of client wins. Custard, which was established three years ago, has moved from Preston to Bolton and has opened a London office as a result of its expansion, and is also developing a press release distribution site.

Sapphire Aviation Training Limited
Aircraft company Sapphire Aviation has opened new site on the former HMS Daedalus airfield in Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, creating 20 jobs. The company has benefited from Gosport Borough Councils business rate rebate scheme.

Worcestershire County Council
Worcestershire County Council is appointing 25 new social workers, increasing the social worker team by 20% to 150. Five senior manager posts will be lost. 48,000 will be spent on two emotional behavioural difficulties units, 21,000 on four extra foster care placements, and 106,000 on outreach services. A new IT system will be established.

Triple Eight Proteins Limited
Triple Eight Proteins , a Co Tyrone food company, is creating 18 new jobs including three management posts. It has expanded in developing markets and sells 100% of output beyond the UK and Ireland. It plans to invest in its manufacturing facilities to help triple exports by 2014 in existing and new markets.

Geldards Llp
Nottingham Law firm Geldards has recruited 17 lawyers after it secured a major new contract. The company has a turnover of £19.8m and employs 255 staff.

Jones Lang Lasalle Europe Limited
Financial and professional services firm Jones Lang LaSalle has appointed 14 new members of staff to its team in Bristol in Avon. The company has recruited two graduates to their two year graduate programme and a Senior Surveyor. The accounts department has also appointed 11 new starters.

Ceram
Materials technology company Ceram has launched a recruitment drive to support growth plans across its services. Three key appointments have already been made, with another 10 to follow. Dr Ian Buckley joins as Head, Innovations in Materials and two new product managers have joined as part of the marketing team.
