Job announcements for September week 1 ...


Jaguar Land Rover
Jaguar Land Rover is investing £355m in a new advanced engine plant at the i54 business hub in South Staffordshire, creating 750 jobs. Good progress is being made on construction work at the new plant, along with wider infrastructure work at the i54 site.

Talktalk
TalkTalk is creating 500 jobs as it expands into mobile telephony and television. It is recruiting engineers to support its new television services, increasing headcount to 2,800. It is offering a set-top box with access to YouView, an internet-connected television platform, in a partnership with the BBC, ITV, Channels Four and Five, Arqiva and BT.

Chobani
US-based yoghurt manufacturer Chobani is expanding into the £1.9bn UK chilled yoghurt market. The company, which has 1,200 staff, will sell its yoghurts in 200 Tesco stores and may open a UK yoghurt manufacturing facility, creating 300 jobs. It also plans to open a Greek yoghurt shop in London.

Geopost
Parcel firm Geopost is planning a £20 million expansion at its Smethwick, West Midlands, site that will create 250 jobs. The sorting hub will be able to process 150,000 extra packages a night. There has been steady growth across the company.

Heerema Fabrication Group
200 jobs will be created at the Heerema fabrication yard in Hartlepool, County Durham, as a result of a contract to supply offshore platforms for the Cygnus gas field development. Construction work is expected to commence in late 2012.

De Vere Group Holdings
De Vere Group is to construct a £20 million complex in Edinburgh, featuring a 120-room hotel, a health and leisure complex and a conference centre. It will create 120 jobs. The company is planning 15 new resorts to add to its 63 existing sites across Britain.

Easyjet
Budget airline EasyJet is to create up to 120 new jobs at Manchester Airport. The airline is to base a new aircraft at the airport from March 2013 which will take the number of aircraft based there to seven. The company is also planning to grow the number of business travellers it carries to more than a fifth of all passengers.

Gardline Marine Sciences
Great Yarmouth-based marine survey firm Gardline Marine Sciences has seen its workforce grow by 20 new recruits a month for the 18 months to August 2012 due to new contract wins. It is currently recruiting for 87 vacancies.

Vantec Europe
A further 81 jobs are to be created at Vantec Europe in Sunderland, adding to the 230 jobs the company is creating as part of its 22.5m investment in a 421,000 sq ft building at Turbine Business Park.

Premier Inn Hotels
Budget hotel chain, Premier Inn, is creating 70 new jobs in Glasgow as the company expands with a new £14m, 210-bedroom development, which is due to open in October 2012.

Recycoal Holdings
Recycoal, which recovers coal from disused mines and waste spoil heaps before selling it to energy providers, is creating 70 jobs. It has secured £10m funding to redevelop a former colliery at Rossington, near Doncaster. Revenues of £60m over four years are expected and further UK sites will be redeveloped.

A J Woods Engineering
Essex-based AJ Woods Engineering is opening a site at the Port of Sunderland, potentially creating 60 jobs. The company, which specialises in complex offshore structures for the renewable, oil and gas industries, is expanding to meet high demand from existing clients and companies looking for services in north east England.

Play
Play.com has brought its contact centre back to the UK as part of its drive to create a more personal service offering. The move has created 55 full-time jobs in the Wirral. It will handle 12,000 enquiries a week.

Oxford Innovation
Oxford Innovation has secured £7m from the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) Convergence Programme, allowing it to support businesses in Cornwall for a further three years. Its earlier two-year product development training programme supported the creation of 50 new jobs in Cornwall.

Ans Group
Technology firm ANS has reported revenue up 60% to £47m for the year to 31 March 2012, the eighth successive year of growth. Pre-tax profits more than doubled from £1.6m to £3.6m. Growth has been driven by an increasing number of clients. The company plans to recruit 50 new staff over the next year, increasing its staff number to 200.

Glenside Manor Healthcare Services
Glenside Manor Healthcare Services, which cares for people with neurological conditions, is opening a new ward at its hospital in Salisbury, Wiltshire and launching a nursed residential service. The expansion will create between 30 and 35 new jobs.

Scott & Company
Debt recovery firm Scott & Company is opening a new office in Galashiels, Scottish Borders, to meet public sector demand. The office will create 30 new jobs.

Castlerock Recruitment Group
Healthcare specialist Castlerock Recruitment Group expects turnover to rise by 40% from £15m to £21m in 2012, following investment from the North West Fund for Development Capital. The firm, which has 11 offices in the UK, grew staff numbers from 88 to 110 in the six months to end June 2012.

D J Cox
D J Cox, a Lancashire car dealership group, is expanding its operations with a £3m investment in a new Volkswagen showroom, creating 20 jobs. The 11-car showroom, 16,000 sq ft bodyshop and 100-space used car lot will be located on a three-acre site near Lancaster.

DX Group
DX Group, a mail, courier and logistics operator, has invested £120,000 at its Northern Ireland Service Centre. The investment will allow DX to offer collections from Northern Ireland businesses for onward next day delivery to residential addresses across the UK. The expansion will create 18 new jobs.

UFindaLocal.com
Internet directory provider, ufindalocal.com is creating up to 15 further jobs in a new call centre in Colchester, Essex. The expanding company anticipates further growth, despite difficult economic conditions. It employs 40 people in Brentwood, Essex, and the new Colchester centre will provide capacity to make a further 500,000 outbound sales calls per annum.

Hills Waste Solutions
Hills Waste Solutions is converting an existing warehouse into a recyclables management facility, creating 10 jobs for kerbside loaders and 5 jobs for LGV drivers. The facility in Amesbury, Wiltshire, will open later in 2012.

Razorblue
IT services company Razorblue has opened an office in Leeds, and tripled its office space by moving into 2,500 sq ft premises in Catterick, Yorkshire. The firm has created 10 new jobs, with five more expected as a result of the office expansion.

Space RPC
Space, a new retail property consultancy, has been launched by Peter Leverett who becomes managing director. Space will operate from a new headquarters office in Leicester and has already been retained to act for a number of multiple retailers and shopping centre landlords.
