Some 36% of small businesses use Facebook to market themselves, while just a quarter use local directories, research by technology company BaseKit has revealed. More than one in six small firms use Twitter to generate new customers and market their services, almost the same number as those that advertise in print and online, 21% and 20% respectively. Simon Best, co-founder of BaseKit, said "small businesses are shifting their marketing to lower-cost media like Facebook and Twitter." Read the report
