Rolls-Royce secure £18bn Derby deal

Rolls-Royce, has announced two major contracts at the annual Paris Air Show which will see Derby play a “central role in their production”. As well as securing a £1.36 billion deal with TAM airlines, the Sinfin based company revealed an exclusive deal with Airbus to build new engines for the A350-1000 aircraft. The Airbus deal could be worth £17 billion.

John Forkin, director of Marketing Derby said the Rolls-Royce deals were “fantastic news” for the city.

“This is the sort of tonic we need after the news that Barclaycard was moving 650 jobs out of the city and the Government has awarded the £1.4bn Thameslink contract to Germany. It shows that Derby has a workforce that can compete with anyone in the world”. Rolls-Royce also secured TotalCare agreements with TAM airlines which will see the company maintain and service the engines over the next 12 years.
