Job announcements for July week 1 ...

If you intend to approach a company directly for an employment opportunity, it makes sense to pick one experiencing growth or a period of investment. Keep your eyes on the newspapers, they are full of good stories if you really look. Here are a few from this week:

Virgin Media
Virgin Media has started work on a £75m project to bring super-fast broadband to Manchester, creating 500 jobs and benefiting 150,000 homes and businesses. The £467m turnover company will eventually invest £3bn across the country to bring ultrafast connectivity to four million premises.

NuoDB
US-based NuoDB is opening a software engineering centre in Belfast, creating 20 new jobs, after securing £100,000 of support from Invest NI. The new software engineering team will be recruited over a three year period to help meet growing demand for NuoDB's database management system.

BT
Telecoms firm BT is to recruit over 100 new engineers across Scotland. The jobs are with the firm's local network business Openreach. BT is also investing £126 million in the digital Scotland superfast broadband fibre rollout.

Bennett Verby
Bennett Verby, the Stockport-headquartered accountant and business adviser, has opened offices in Manchester and London, and is recruiting 13 members of staff to meet growing client demand for its services. The firm is also taking on three graduates.

Biogelx
Biotech company Biogelx, a spin-out from Strathclyde University, intends to double headcount at its Scottish headquarters, and double turnover over the five years to 2020.

Riverview Law
Riverview Law is recruiting lawyers and other professionals to work at its centre in Wirral, where is already employs 100 people. 

Bristol Airport
Bristol Airport is investing £24m to further extend the terminal building and transform the way passengers pass through the security process. The extension will feature state-of-the-art security technology, and new customs facilities and shops. The investment will create employment opportunities.

Johnson Design Partnership
Johnson Design Partnership, the Shropshire-based architecture firm, has secured £1.8m worth of new business, which allowing the company to create up to 100 jobs.
