Job rumours for July week 2 ...

Trinity Mirror
Trinity Mirror, the national newspaper group, is expanding its digital editorial department by hiring 25 new editorial staff, doubling the department in size and increasing output to 2,000 stories a week. Turnover £706.5m.

Qinetiq Group
QinetiQ, the Hampshire-based defence and technology company, is creating 60 new jobs at its site in Worcestershire. The positions will vary from I.T engineers to project managers and scientists, with graduate roles being created. The firm has a growth strategy to make Malvern a centre for excellence in the industry.

Blur Group
Blur Group, the global technology business, will create 25 new jobs at its new R&D facility in Exeter.

Maven Capital Partners
Private equity house Maven Capital Partners has won the mandate to run a £20m fund aimed at small and medium-sized businesses in Greater Manchester, resulting in 3 new jobs. The mandate will increase funds under management to £320m. 45 employees.

Onecom
Hampshire firms Premier Telecom and Business Phones Direct have merged to become OneCom. Up to 70 new jobs are being created, including 50 sales roles and 20 customer service roles. The new business will have a turnover of 40m and a workforce of 300.

Intercontinental Hotels Group
Intercontinental Hotels Group has agreed terms with property development firm Brendan Duddy Group for the franchise on a new, £12m hotel in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The business is due to open on 19 September 2013, creating 50 jobs.

Walker Morris Resources
Leeds-based law firm Walker Morris has recorded 2.4% turnover growth, from £41m in 2011/12 to £42m in 2012/13, along with a £3.4% fall in net profit from £13.5m in 2011/12 to £13m in 2012/13. The profitability fall was mainly caused by investment in people, with total headcount increased by 20 to 479.

Made Television
Made Television is to set up its headquarters in Leeds, creating more than 50 jobs and generating more than 1m of investment in the city. The company holds 4 local TV licences in Leeds, Newcastle, Cardiff and Bristol.

Mediaworks UK
Mediaworks, the Tyne & Wear based digital marketing agency, will increase its workforce by 30 to 100 in the year to July 2014. Mediaworks has doubled in size each year for the four years to 2013. Turnover £1.7m.

Violet Bick
Newcastle brand consultancy Violet Bick is expanding the team to support the growth and strategic goals of the agency.

Jewellery Quarter Bullion
Bullion By Post, a Birmingham-based online bullion dealer, recorded 58% turnover growth to 87m for the year to April 2013. Sales of 120m are expected for 2013-14. The company is relocating to a new city centre headquarters, doubling its space. Staff numbers will increase by 70% with 10 new jobs created by April 2014.

Scot Group Southern
Exeter-headquartered Scot Group, the vehicle-hire company, recorded pre-tax profit of £15.8m for the year to March 2013 up from £9.6m in the previous year. Turnover increased from £84.4m to £88.7m. The improved performance was because of cost saving measures and a reduction in vehicle holding costs. Staff numbers increased from 945 to 981.
