Job announcements for Jan week 3....


Armstrong Watson Financial Planning
Cumbria-based accountancy firm Armstrong Watson has merged with Yorkshire-based Robertshaw Myers, strengthening its existing office in the region. All staff and partners from Robertshaw Myers will join Armstrong Watson. Following the merger Armstrong Watson had 400 employees across 14 offices in northern England and southern Scotland with a combined turnover of £20m and is growing fast.


Amazon.Co.UK
Ecommerce company Amazon is to expand its global development hub in London and has opened an eight floor centre in Barbican. One hundred new staff will be recruited to work on new projects. The company has a turnover of £207,696,000.


Hastings Direct
Hastings Direct is to create 200 new jobs at its HQ in Bexhill this year. The business is expanding because of growth in a range of products including car, bike, van and home insurance.


Fiction Factory
Hinterland Films, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiction Factory, has secured funding from the Welsh Government to produce a TV detective drama. The drama will provide employment for 80 freelance staff across a 12 month period. It will be filmed on location in Aberystwyth and Ceredigion with post production carried out in Cardiff.


Jaguar Land Rover
Jaguar Land Rover is creating 800 new jobs in Solihull, West Midlands. The new employees will help to build eight new or redesigned car models. The expansion follows record sales of 357,000 cars in 2012. Jaguar Land Rover recruited 8000 people in 2011 - 2012. It employs 25,000 worldwide and the growth will mean opportunities for professional central business staff as well as engineering / production roles.


Penso Consulting
Penso Consulting has purchased its premises in Coventry for £2m. HSBC provided a £1.4m funding, Penso plans to add 100 more jobs to its 140-strong workforce and to increase turnover to more than £25m within 18 months.


The Consulting Consortium
The financial services consultancy founded by former City regulator Joanne Smith expects to create up to 30 new jobs in Yorkshire after opening its new UK operations centre in Leeds. It generated sales of £10.6m last year, up from £8.1m in 2011. Profits were £3.6m in 2012.


The Heart of the South West (HotSW) Local Enterprise Partnership
The Heart of the South West (HotSW) Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has secured £2.9m of funding from the Rural Growth Network initiative. The investment is set to boost the rural economy in Somerset and Devon by £40m by providing opportunities and infrastructure for rural businesses. Seven hundred jobs are expected to be created.


Shanks Group
Waste management business Shanks Group has secured a 25 year PFI contract with Wakefield Council worth an estimated £750m. The construction phase will create 250 jobs with 60 further permanent positions to be created.


Thomas Guise
Law firm Thomas Guise has opened a new office in Birmingham, rebranded, launched a new website and is planning to recruit additional employees. The new office will serve as the hub for an increasing number of Chinese clientele, following a trade mission to the country in October 2012.
