Job announcements for November week 5....


Marks & Spencer
Marks & Spencer is to create 4,750 jobs to improve stock levels on shelves. Some of the staff will be recruited from the 20,000 workers being recruited to deal with the Christmas rush. A new staff set-up is being tested in 75 stores. 70 stores will be revamped by April 2013 and 14 new stores are planned.

The Manchester Airport Group
A World Logistics Hub is planned at Manchester Airport, creating 1,800 construction jobs. The £100m freight and warehouse complex is expected to attract new international businesses and help existing airport businesses to expand.

Areva Uk
Areva, a France-based wind energy company, is to locate its UK turbine manufacturing base in Scotland, creating 750 jobs in manufacturing and the supporting supply chain. The new facility is part of a European expansion strategy. Five-megawatt turbines for offshore projects in the UK will be manufactured in Scotland.

Active Leisure Resorts
Active Leisure Resorts is planning a £50m leisure and tourism resort in Widdrington, Northumberland, including a short-break adventure park, four-star luxury holiday village, retail and restaurant hub, and outdoor activities such as equestrian, fishing, water sports and high ropes courses.

The Contact Company
Wirral call centre operator, the Contact Company, is to create 300 new jobs after winning a contract with Advanced Payment Solutions to set up a customer services operation in Birkenhead. The company is relocating its customer services centre from Romania.

Silverbeck Rymer
Personal injury firm, Silverbeck Rymer, which has more than 250 staff in bases in Liverpool and Chelmsford, and is currently awaiting Solicitors Regulation Authority approval for its 19.3m takeover by software and outsourcing business Quindell Portfolio, plans to create 300 new jobs over the next 12 months.

Dwf Llp
Law firm DWF has merged with Scottish firm Biggart Baillie, Newcastle-based Crutes and Birmingham-based Buller Jeffries, increasing growth by 39%. Like-for-like revenue increased 7.6% in the six months to October 2012, with total revenue reaching 59m. 201 new jobs have been created. DWF aims to be a top 20 law firm by 2015.

Harmoni Clinical Services
Private operator Harmoni has been awarded the contract to run the 111 non-emergency telephone service by NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. The company is to open a call centre in Stoke Gifford creating almost 200 jobs.

Monarch Airlines
Monarch Airlines plans to create up to 300 jobs at Birmingham Airport with the construction of a new hangar. 150 Jobs would be created initially with the possibility of another 150 later. The hangar is due to be completed and operational by the end of 2013.

Cornwall Council
Cornwall Council is opening a £13m Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, with 80 jobs expected. Cornwall Council contributed £3.3m and is leading the project, supported by Cornwall Development Company, which received £10m from the European Regional Development Fund. The centre will be operated by Plymouth University.

Gainshare Partnership
Gainshare Partnership, a Tyne and Wear contact centre operator, has secured a significant contract with Scottish Power and is accelerating its growth strategy. It is recruiting 60 staff by Christmas 2012, with further recruitment planned in early 2013.

Rovop
Energy services firm Rovop is to create 60 jobs following investment of £15m over the next 18 months on five new remotely operated vehicles. Rovop is also investing about £250,000 in a state-of-the-art ROV simulator.

Allstate Northern Ireland
IT company Allstate is creating 60 jobs for experienced IT professionals in Derry and Belfast. The new jobs are a result of rapid growth within the company and could be in place as early as Christmas 2012.

B & M Retail
50 jobs have been created by a budget retailer B & M Bargains which opening a new store in Worcester this week. The company has more than 300 stores across the UK.

Malmaison Holdings
Malmaison and Hotel du Vin is investing £4m in Scotland, creating 50 jobs. A £20m Malmaison Hotel development in Dundee is being expanded with the addition of a spa. Conversion of the St Andrews Golf Hotel into a Hotel du Vin will start in February 2013.

Domestic & General Group
Domestic & General has created 46 agent posts in Nottingham to cover an increase in calls over the Christmas period. The jobs are on a three month contract period.

Aircraft Maintenance Support Services
Aircraft Maintenance Support Services is to invest £1.1m to expand its Bridgend facility and create 28 jobs after securing a £700,000 funding package from Barclays and £300,000 from the Welsh Government Economic Growth Fund. The company is expanding to meet growing demand for its products.

Motonovo Finance
MotoNova, a fast-growing motor finance firm is increasing its rate of expansion with a 1.8m investment from South African parent WesBank. It is recruiting 20 field-based development managers and creating new posts at its Cardiff base. It plans to double new business over five years, and is investing in technology and new products.

Intervate
West Midlands-based Intervate Ltd is establishing a 3.5-megawatt renewable energy power plant after securing a 20-year lease on a 1.25-acre property in Cradley Heath. When fully operational in 2013 the plant will produce enough electricity each year for 8,500 houses.

Xpd
XPD Ltd, a Middlesex-based telecommunications and IT products dealer group, has recruited eight new staff members to its Business Development, Telesales and Central Marketing Departments. The expansion allows the group to offer a wider variety of services.

Intapeople
IntaPeople, a Cardiff-based specialist recruitment consultancy, has appointed eight new consultants to its training academy. After the consultants have completed a 12-week course they will join the IT, Engineering or Data Centre division at Intapeople.

Bpe Solicitors Llp
BPE Solicitors in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, has recruited four new members of staff as part of its on-going expansion, including new partner, Tim Williams. The appointments strengthen the commercial property, employment, commercial litigation and science and technology teams.

Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward
Independent estate agents Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward is expanding its commercial property division. 3 new senior staff members have been recruited. The division will seek new opportunities in retail, industrial and offices.
