Job announcements for November week 1...


Cavaghan & Gray Group
Cavaghan & Gray, which manufactures party food for companies such as Marks and Spencer, plans to recruit 250 to 300 seasonal staff at its Carlisle factory to cope with increased demand for Christmas 2012. The company is a subsidiary of 2 Sisters Food group.

Ocado
Online shopping giant Ocado is to create approximately 200 jobs across all disciplines at a new 5 million state-of-the-art depot in Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire. The new AutoStore will open in Spring 2013 and will store and distribute non-food stock with a robotic sorting device driving the project.

Davies Turner Holdings
Davies Turner, headquartered in Coleshill in the West Midlands, has recorded a pre-tax profit of £5m for the year to the end of March 2012, up from £3.1m. Operating profit rose from £3.8m in 2011 to £4.8m. Sales fell slightly from £148.9m to £147.3m. Seventy jobs have been created in logistics, sales and the groups apprenticeship programme.

NVT Group
NVT has secured a £2m contract to integrate IT services for the Commonwealth Games 2014. NVT plans to create 15 modern apprenticeships, including three for athletes, as a result of the contract.

Cab Automotive
Car interiors manufacturer Cab Automotive is to create 60 new jobs after secured funding from the Regional Growth Fund. The £124m fund is designated for the West Midlands to stimulate growth in the manufacturing sector.

The Holistic Practice
The Holistic Practice Ltd has opened its first site in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, creating 30 jobs. The company secured a six-figure funding package from Lloyds TSB Commercial.

Smyths Toys UK
Smyths Toys is opening a new superstore in Titchfield, Hampshire as part of its UK expansion strategy. More than 30 jobs will be created at the new branch. Further posts could be created towards Christmas 2012.

Interplas Coatings Limited
Interplas Coatings has created 29 jobs in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, after seeing rapid growth. The company is conducting a £200,000 expansion of the 35,000 sq ft factory, which opened in 2011.

Omega North East Limited
Omega North East, which manufacturers machinery for plastic injection moulding, has opened a new production facility in Hartlepool, County Durham, creating 25 new jobs. The company secured £40,000 bank funding for the expansion. It expects turnover to increase from £3.2m to between £5-£6m in three years.

Worcestershire County Council
Worcestershire County Council is appointing 25 new social workers, increasing the social worker team by 20% to 150. Five senior manager posts will be lost. 48,000 will be spent on two emotional behavioural difficulties units, 21,000 on four extra foster care placements, and 106,000 on outreach services. A new IT system will be established.

Homes and Communities Agency
The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is to work with the landowner the Coldeast site in Sarisbury Green, Southampton in Hampshire to redevelop the site. A new 4m hotel will be built by the renovation of the derelict mansion on the site into a 27 room hotel. Fifteen new jobs will be created. There will also be 168 homes, 40 sheltered housing units and a cemetery, a swimming pool and allotments.

Lincolnshire Co-operative
Lincolnshire Co-operative Limited is opening a new store in Crowle, Lincolnshire, as part of its expansion strategy. The 2,873 square store will be built by LCS Property Ltd. Two full time and 12 part-time positions will be created when the store opens.

Wilkinson Maintenance
County Durham based Wilkinson Maintenance, which specialises in the reactive maintenance and refurbishment of commercial properties, is to reach its £5m turnover target in the year to the end of May 2012.

Ceram Group
Materials technology company Ceram has launched a recruitment drive to support growth plans across its services. Three key appointments have already been made, with another 10 to follow.
