Job announcements for October week 4


Staffordshire County Council
Staffordshire County Council will begin work on an 8.5m business park near Stafford, West Midlands, as soon as a developer is found. Plans have been approved for the development, which is expected to create 2,500 new jobs and attract inward investment to the area.

Eneco Wind
A 3bn wind farm is planned off the south coast providing 1,000 temporary jobs during the construction period, which would start in 2017, and 100 permanent jobs maintaining the site. Eneco Wind Ltd (Eneco) and EDF Energy will install the turbines.

Hutchison 3G Holdings
Mobile phone company Three is investing 3m to double employee numbers in Glasgow with 380 new customer sales and support jobs, and to create a total of 400 jobs at its Maidenhead office and retail outlets. The expansion follows a 1.8m investment from Scottish Enterprise and a 270,000 investment from Skill Development Scotland.

BT Group
Telecommunications giant BT is recruiting 250 new engineering staff for its Openreach division. The new staff will be recruited through the MOD's Career Transition Partnership. Openreach has created 1,900 jobs since March 2011. It has suffered delays to work due to adverse weather conditions over the summer.

Capita Group
Business process outsourcing group Capita is creating 200 jobs in Upavon, Wiltshire, after securing a contract in March 2012 to deliver recruitment services for the Army. Capita is establishing recruiting and customer contact teams at the National Recruiting Centre in Upavon. The new teams will start work by March 2013.

Jee
Jee Ltd, a subsea engineering and training specialist, aims to increase turnover from 5m to 20m over four years. It is expanding into new offices in Aberdeen and opening an engineering base in central London following strong business growth. The expansion is expected to create 150 jobs.

Love Energy Savings.Com
Energy comparison site Love Energy Savings plans to double its current headcount of 120 employees over the year to end 2013. The company has secured a six-figure finance package from Yorkshire Bank. It has also moved to a larger call centre in Bolton, Greater Manchester.

Opus Energy
Northampton-based Opus Energy has created 100 jobs over the past year, and plans to create another 100 positions over the coming 12 months to keep up with their rate of growth. The company launched an apprenticeship scheme in February, with nine apprenticeships being awarded so far and a further ten set for next year.

Ge Aviation Systems
Gloucestershire-based GE Aviation Systems has secured £1.25m from the government Regional Growth Fund to create a new facility to continue its research and development into new aircraft technologies. The research is expected to lead to new products.

Retail Merchant Services
Retail Merchant Services, which processes credit card payments for SMEs, has been named Elavon Merchant Services Best Independent Sales Organisation following a period of business growth. The company has expanded its Milton Keynes office and recruited 50 more staff.

Jet2.Com
Airline Jet2.com is to base a fourth plane at Glasgow airport, creating 50 jobs. It is launching three new routes from Glasgow Airport in summer 2013, to Murcia in Spain, Pula in Croatia and Menorca.

Dac Beachcroft Llp
Law firm DAC Beachcroft is relocating its Newcastle-on-Tyne office in spring 2013, doubling the size of its premises. The firm plans to create 50 new jobs following the move and will employ 120 staff at the new 11,300 sq ft office.

Banks Renewables
Renewable energy solutions company Banks Renewables has received planning permission for the construction of a £7.5m three turbine wind warm in north Lancashire. Between 10 and 50 jobs are expected to be created during the construction process.

J & A Young Group
J & A Young, a plastic recycling firm, is investing a seven-figure sum at its Loughborough site. The company, which trades as Jayplas, is to create a processing plant and vehicle workshop at the 69-acre site, which was formerly occupied by AstraZeneca.

Nsk Bearings Europe
East Durham car bearing manufacturer NSK Bearings is investing £23.5m into its Peterlee facility, after being awarded a £3.5m government Regional Growth Fund grant. The investment planned will see an on-site training centre established for its 400-strong workforce and improvements to its production line and warehousing and 45 new jobs.

Myriad Group
Renewable energy services company Myriad CEG Wind has created 30 jobs in Preston after moving its new national headquarters to the Lancashire city.

Coleman & Company
Coleman & Company, a Birmingham-based demolition expert, invested in facilities and equipment in 2011 and increased staff headcount by 40 to 158 after securing several new projects. The company recorded its best profit margin in its ten-year history.

Geldards Llp
Law firm Geldards has recruited 17 new employees at its Nottingham office following an increase in work for a major client, electricity distributor Western Power Distribution. Geldards caseload increased substantially after Western Power Distribution acquired Central Networks.

Twitter
Online social networking and microblogging service Twitter is to continue the expansion of its creative, research and sales teams and increase staff numbers by 30 per cent in the . Approximately fifteen new jobs are expected to be created. The company will also run events for the marketing, creative and broadcast community in 2013.

Fresh Approach
Fresh Approach, a Cheshire-based communications agency has added 13 new members of staff in the three months to October 2013 as it continues to expand. It continues to gain new clients and will deliver of a number of high-profile projects in the coming months.

Western & Oriental
Western & Oriental is recruiting 10 new sales staff after a management shake-up. Steve OLoughlin, head of trade sales, is leaving at the end of 2012.

Cool Blue Brand Communications
Communications agency Cool Blue Brand Communications has moved to new premises in Newcastle after increasing staff headcount by six to 22. The Middlesbrough company has relocated its second office to the Toffee Factory in Ouseburn, Newcastle.

Reeds Rains
Estate agent Reeds Rains is expanding two Warwickshire branches, Leamington and Kenilworth , in response to increasing demand for its services.
