Job announcements for October week 3


Staffordshire County Council
Staffordshire County Council will begin work on an 8.5m business park near Stafford, West Midlands, as soon as a developer is found. Plans have been approved for the development, which is expected to create 2,500 new jobs and attract inward investment to the area.

British Gas Trading
British Gas is to recruit 1,000 staff over the two years to 2014, under a programme to replace existing gas meters with ones which give information on energy use in homes and businesses. The new recruits will undertake an apprenticeship programme to train as Smart Energy Experts. Turnover 12.78bn, 11,100 employees.

Scottish Parliament
The Scottish Government plans to make high-speed next generation broadband services available to everyone by 2020. The investment could create nearly 15,000 jobs: 800 jobs to install the technology; 70 jobs to operate the new network; and 14,000 indirect jobs over 15 years in areas such as e-commerce, social media, tourism and cyber-security.

Paddy Power Public Company
Bookmaker Paddy Power has expanded its operations and is to create more than 600 new jobs before the end of 2015. The company presently has 2,172 employees in Ireland.

Carillion Energy Services
Carillion Energy Services has been named by Birmingham City Council as preferred bidder for a 600m contract to fit 60,000 homes with energy efficiency measures under the Energy Savers programme, including insulation and new boilers. Carillion has committed to creating and sustaining 360 jobs through its own investment and skills training.

Mulberry Group
Three hundred jobs will be created by luxury fashion house Mulberry at its new factory in Bridgwater, Somerset. The building work will commence in November 2012.

Capita Group
Business process outsourcing group Capita is creating 200 jobs in Upavon, Wiltshire, after securing a contract in March 2012 to deliver recruitment services for the Army. Capita is establishing recruiting and customer contact teams at the National Recruiting Centre in Upavon.

Virgin Media
Virgin Media is creating 200 apprenticeships at a new headquarters in Sheldon, Birmingham. The apprentice programme offers placements in a variety of roles, with opportunities to work across the UK. The company has moved 1,000 Midland employees to the new base, which also houses its Advanced Engineering and Technology Lab.

Cranswick
Cranswick Plc expects to create 150 jobs at a new factory in Malton, North Yorkshire, which is due to open by April 2013 in partnership with The Yorkshire Baker. The factory will produce savoury pastries and pies. Sales grew 5% in the six months to September 2012.

Ultra Energy Global
Renewable energy company Ultra Energy is opening a new call centre in Leyland, Lancashire, creating 150 jobs. The company has offices throughout the UK.

Opus Energy Group
Northampton-based Opus Energy, which provides gas and electricity to businesses, is recruiting 90 staff for its customer service centre, as well as 10 new apprentices, as part of its ongoing expansion strategy. It has a workforce of 400 and a turnover of £272.7m.

Emc Advisory Services
Devon-based financial claims management company EMCAS is creating 70 jobs at its new office in Exeter.

Pimlico Plumbers
Pimlico Plumbers is creating up to 50 new skilled positions to meet the expected demand for its services during the winter period. The company reported a turnover of 17m in the year ending 31 May 2012. Growth has continued with a 1.5% increase in sales between June and August 2012.

Infinergy Technology
Infinergy Technology is planning to build a carbon-neutral micro-power station at Ricall Business Park in Selby Yorkshire. The power station will use bio-technology to create and export electricity to the National Grid. The 16m investment will create 14 jobs during construction and a further 36 once completed.

Pattonair
Pattonair, an aerospace and defence logistics company, is creating more than 50 jobs at its Derby site, which has become its European hub following a seven-figure investment. The company employs 300 people in Derby across two sites. It is seeking operations, procurement, finance, IT and quality staff.

Nortech Solutions
Nortech Solutions, which provides design and project management services to the engineering sector, has taken an additional 6,000sq ft of office space in Stockton. It has recruited 30 additional staff in the three months to October 2012, taking its team to 65. The expansion follows new business with EnQuest, Jersey Gas and other clients.

Norbar Torque Tools
Engineering firm Norbar Torque Tools has opened a 170,000 sq ft factory in Banbury, Oxfordshire and will scale up production of torque wrenches and measuring equipment to meet substantial increase in global demand. The company has created 25 jobs in 2012 and further recruitment is planned.

Automated Technology Group
Automated Technology Group (ATG) has launched the Autotech Academy at its headquarters in Silsoe, Bedfordshire and has recruited 21 engineering apprentices. Semta, the Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing, will help to deliver the apprenticeships.

Fairfield Energy
Fairfield Energy, an independent oil and gas operator, has invested in a 25,000 sq ft headquarters in Westhill, Scotland, for its North Sea operations. It has relocated 180 employees and contractors to the new office. The company has a growing portfolio of interests in the North Sea and is recruiting 20 staff to support expected growth.

Advanced Chemical Etching
Shropshire-based Advanced Chemical Etching has invested 1m to double its factory size to 20,000 sq ft. The company is securing new orders for components used in next generation aircraft, F1 cars and medical implants and plans to create 15 jobs, increasing headcount to 50. 6m turnover is expected by 2015.

Fit For Free
Fit For Free is opening a 1m gym in Worcester, creating 15 jobs including personal trainers and site management staff. It is the third club opened by the Netherlands-based company in the UK.

Ford Retail Group
Brunel Ford is opening a new car dealership in Bristol, creating 8 new jobs. The dealership is being built by property group Goodman and completion is expected in February 2013. The new building will replace an existing site in Horsfield.

Wilcocks & Associates
Liverpool based wealth management company Wilcocks & Associates is expanding following investment from MSIF. The funds will be used to recruit further staff and fund marketing campaigns. The company has so far recruited three self-employed partners and two additional support staff.

Deal - Track
Deal - Track, a software solution that helps organisations manage complex trading agreements, has been launched by Stratford-upon-Avon software company Enable.

Iccm Professional Services
Wiltshire IT services company ICCM Solutions increased sales by 26% in 2011/12, its fifth year of double-digit growth. Further growth is expected in 2012/13, helped by expansion into overseas markets. Five jobs have been created to support growth in consultancy services, solution delivery and account management.

Aspire Technology Solutions
Managed services company Aspire Technology Solutions, based in Gateshead in Tyne and Wear, is on track to reach its predicted £10m turnover by 2015, with a longer term view of hitting £20m by 2019. The company has increased its workforce by 50 per cent during the 12 months to October 2012 and will create five new jobs between 2012-2013.

Eurochange
Eurochange, a foreign exchange provider, has opened a branch in Sunderland, creating five new jobs. The growing company operates 88 bureau de change branches in the UK.

Oasis Health And Beauty
Leicestershire-based Oasis Health and Beauty has invested £70,000 to double the size of its salon in Narborough, adding new treatment rooms and a lounge area. The company has increased its team from seven to 11 employees and is offering additional services.

Doble Quality Foods
St Agnes-based Doble Quality Foods has secured £6,000 from the Superfast Cornwall Fund to upgrade its internet software. Three jobs will be created. The company is the first business to secure funding from the £2m superfast broadband fund.
