Job announcements for October week 2


Cala Group
Cala Homes is to build 2,000 homes in Winchester, as well as a primary school, food store, community building, health centre, 60-bedroom nursing home, and a district energy centre. The development is expected to create 8,000 jobs and will take 12 years to complete.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK)
Toyota plans to create 700 jobs at its plant in Burnaston, Derby, in 2013, to help manufacture the Auris hybrid and the Auris Touring Sports. The Derbyshire factory has increased headcount by 800 in 2012, and now employs 3,500 workers. It will be the sole producer of the new Auris.

E.ON UK
E.ON is to build an energy from waste generating station in Cheshire which will create 500 jobs during construction and 50 once operational. The proposed plant at Lostock will generate enough power to supply 80,000 homes. It will be run by E.ON Energy from Waste (EEW).

Mulberry Group
Three hundred jobs will be created by luxury fashion house Mulberry at its new factory in Bridgwater, Somerset. The building work will commence in November 2012.

EON Reality
US-based EON Reality, which provides interactive 3D solutions, is opening a 10,000 sq ft interactive research and development centre in Manchester, creating 240 jobs over three years. The centre will open in early 2013.

Score Group
North East Engineering Firm Score Group has invested £5m in a new base where 30 people are already working. That number is expected to rise to 200 over the next five years.

The Automobile Association
As part of its review into its UK call centre operations The AA is to create more than 180 jobs at its Newcastle base and cut 406 jobs at its base in Cardiff. A net total of 317 jobs at its total contact centre workforce are set to be lost. The company has 8,000 staff with just fewer than 3,000 of those working in its call centres

Spark Response
Call centre operater Spark Response is recruiting 170 temporary staff to help manage the pre Christmas rush. The company needs additional workers to support both the call centre and the fulfilment cente. The extra staff will take Sparks total workforce to 300.

Network Rail
Network Rail is creating 100 jobs at a new £25 million distribution centre near Coventry, West Midlands. The new centre will supply all the tools and equipment to maintain the UKs rail system. The current warehouses in Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Wiltshire will close. Martin Elwood is Director of the National Delivery Service.

Simply Halal
Food company Simply Halal plans to create 60 jobs at its meat processing facility in Banham, Norfolk. It has secured £350,000 funding from the Rural Development Programme for England which will be used to buy equipment to make burgers and sausages.

Mediatonic
Social mobile games developer Mediatonic has opened a new studio in Brighton and is is looking to hire up to 50 employees for the new branch during the next year, on top of the 50 it already employs in the UK capital.

Brose
Automotive supplier Brose is to invest £7m in the expansion of the manufacturing plant in Exhall, Warwickshire. Two hundred and fifty drops will be created as a direct result.

Marine Harvest (Scotland)
Inverness-shire seafood producer Marine Harvest (Scotland) has created 47 jobs during 2011. The company has recorded a 63 per cent rise in turnover to 205.8m in 2011, up from 126.6m.

Nortech Solutions
Nortech Solutions, which provides design and project management services to the engineering sector, has taken an additional 6,000sq ft of office space in Stockton. It has recruited 30 additional staff in the three months to October 2012, taking its team to 65. The expansion follows new business with EnQuest, Jersey Gas and other clients.

DPD (UK)
Express parcel delivery firm DPD has invested £2.3m in a new purpose-built 4,000 square metre depot in Southampton, creating 30 jobs. The depot replaces an existing warehouse at Chandlers Ford. It will help DPD respond to a significant increase in business-to-consumer deliveries.

M2 Digital
M2, the managed print IT services company, is opening a new regional office in Wakefield, Yorkshire. Ten new roles will be created primarily in sales, professional services and customer support, but the office is expected to grow to 25 over 18-months. The company aims to sustain its 20% organic growth rate.

NewGalexy Services
NewGalexy Services, Scotlands first centre for legal process outsourcing, has started trading. The company employs 21 staff in Glasgow and also has bases in London, Chicago and Mumbai.

Northpac
Northpac, a newly created company has acquired the operations of Glasgow-based packaging company Scotplast, and plans to invest 1m and create 20 jobs. It is developing a range of new products and plans to expand into additional markets.

Grayton Engineering
Mechanical engineering contractor Grayton Engineering is investing £250,000 in new premises. It is relocating its North Lincolnshire base from Scunthorpe to larger premises in Immingham. Grayton plans to create 20 new jobs at the 1.7 hectare site over a one year period.

Southern Regional College
Southern Regional College is to create 18 jobs through a new project aimed at supporting local businesses. The project will offer easy access to technological resources, research and development and innovation services for start-up and growth businesses.

Zip World
Adventure company Zip World is recruiting for 16 new jobs at its new 500,000 zip wire attraction in Snowdonia, Wales. The company is recruiting managers, instructors, drivers and clerical staff. The ride is due to open in February 2013.

Cenelec Standards Inspections
Newcastle Upon Tyne-based Cenelec, which safety checks potentially explosive equipment such as oil rigs and distilleries, expects to increase revenues from £3.5m to £15m in three years. New contracts are expected due to regulatory changes requiring sites to receive more frequent safety checks. Cenelec is recruiting 15 inspectors, increasing headcount to 65 and has launched an apprenticeship programme.

Fit For Free
Fit For Free is opening a 1m gym in Worcester, creating 15 jobs including personal trainers and site management staff. It is the third club opened by the Netherlands-based company in the UK. 20 more clubs are due to open by 2014.

Signature Interiors
Signature Interiors has opened in Hereford, creating 7 jobs. The company supplies kitchens, flooring, fabrics, wallpaper and paints, as well as antiques and giftware. It was financed with the help of a 200,000 loan from Lloyds TSB Commercial.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has announced a recruitment drive for new consultant radiologists to join its radiology teams across Northumberland and North Tyneside. Six new consultant radiologists posts have been created.

Deal - Track
Deal - Track, a software solution that helps organisations manage complex trading agreements, has been launched by Stratford-upon-Avon software company Enable. Five new jobs will be created at Deal - Track which will operate as a subsidiary of Enable.

Integrated Magnetic Systems
Integrated Magnetic Systems, a Dundee-based biotechnology company has secured a regional selective assistance grant of 59,000, supporting its own investment of 168,000 to expand operations and create four posts. The company is creating a protein production facility.

All Leisure Group
All Leisure Group is strengthening its sales and marketing team following its acquisition of Page & Moy. Colin Wilson and Andrew Duffy of Page & Moy will become group sales director and group marketing director respectively, creating a single sales team for all the group brands.

Embotics Corporation
Embotics, a Canada-based virtualisation and private cloud management software provider, is expanding its operations in Europe. It has appointed Colin Wright as Vice President for EMEA. The company plans to increase reseller partners in Europe and increase sales of its V-Commander product.
