Job announcements for September week 3...


BT Group
Telcoms company BT is expected to be named preferred bidder for a 40m project to bring superfast broadband to Suffolk. BT is also due to be confirmed as the preferred bidder for broadband services in Norfolk. The Better Broadband for Norfolk project is expected to create 1,337 jobs.

Huawei Technologies Co.
Huawei, which has its headquarters in Basingstoke, is to invest £1.2bn in direct investment with the other £620m to be generated through the supply chain. The money is to be invested over a period of five years and is set to create 700 jobs.

Emis Group
Leeds-based health technology company EMIS has opened new offices to help accommodate the 289 staff taken on this year to meet growing demand for its software.

Southern Electric Power Distribution
Southern Electric, which is part of SSE, has created 200 jobs at its call centre in Havant, Hampshire. The new recruits will help the company offer customers an annual energy review. With the additional staff, more than 2,800 people work at the Havant call centre.

Shuropody
Warwickshire specialist footcare provider Shuropody is to create more than 200 jobs over the next three years after securing a £3m growth capital investment from the Business Growth Fund. The company plans to expand its garden centre-based sites, as well as the introduction of new community service locations.

Northern Gas Networks Holdings
Northern Gas Networks, a Yorkshire-based gas distribution company, is bidding for £3.2m from the Government Regional Growth Fund. It plans to launch a partnership scheme which would allow small and medium-sized firms to become one of its sub-contracting partners.

General Motors
US-based General Motors plans to increase the proportion of IT work done in-house from 10% to 90% as part of a strategy to increase its internal information technology abilities. It plans to recruit 10,000 IT workers over three to five years.

Eden Project
Eden Project and Cornwall College will submit plans to Cornwall Council for a new exhibition centre at the Eden site in Cornwall. The plans for the large-scale project have been in development for several years and will create 150 new jobs.

Firstsource Solutions
In order to continue its business expansion, call centre company Firstsource is to create approximately 100 new jobs at its centre in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The extra staff will handle calls for Sky, one of the companys existing clients. Firstsource currently has 1200 employees at the Londonderry centre.

Ans Group
Technology firm ANS plans to build an 8m data centre, creating 100 jobs. The firm will invest 8m in the data centre over the next three years. Construction will be carried out by Manchester-based Sudlows and will start in March 2013.

Dyson James
Dyson, a Wiltshire-based home appliance manufacture, achieved a record annual turnover of 1.05bn in 2011, up from 887m in 2010. 2011 earnings grew by 30% to 306.3m. Dyson has recruited 100 new engineers and graduates in 2012 and is planning to hire another 100 before the end of the year. Dyson employs 4,000 people worldwide.

Reactiv Media
In order to continue its business expansion, direct marketing company Reactiv Media is moving its contact centre to a new £250,000 premises at the Lowfields Business Park in Elland, West Yorkshire. Ninety new jobs will be created as a direct result and a recruitment campaign has commenced. The new positions will consist of call centre agents, graphic designers and website developers.

Pricewaterhousecoopers LLP
Pricewaterhousecoopers achieved strong revenue growth in 2011 helped by new contracts. revenues increased 7% to £2.6bn for the year to June 2011, up from 6% growth in 2010. The firm invested in its office network and in hiring staff, with 70 graduates recruited in Scotland and 10% growth at its Aberdeen office, including four senior appointments.

Sykes Global Services
Distribution company Sykes Global Services is creating 50 new jobs by incorporating a call centre at its factory in the Borders. The call centre is already up and running but recruitment of the new staff is not expected to be completed until the end of the year.

Yorkshire Building Society
Yorkshire Building Society is recruiting 50 case managers due to increased demand at its Accord Mortgages subsidiary. The positions will be based at Accords customer service centre in Bradford. Ian Bullock is sales and marketing direct at Yorkshire Building Society.

Accord Mortgages
Fifty new city-centre jobs are being created at financial organisation Accord Mortgages based in Bradford in West Yorkshire. The company is a subsidiary of Yorkshire Building Society and specialises in providing home loans through mortgage brokers.

Wage Day Advance
Payday loan company Wage Day Advance recorded a 96% increase in pre-tax profits to £16.4m, on sales of £34.2m, in 2011. The company has experienced annual sales growth of 172% over three years. It is acquiring a third call centre in Skipton, Yorkshire and plans to expand its 100-strong team with a further 40 members of staff.

Search Laboratory
Search marketing specialist Search Laboratory is opening a second Leeds-based office as it continues to expand its operations in response to increased demand. The company expects to create 30 new jobs by the end of 2012. Profits are expected to increase by 60% in the year to October 2012, achieving target figures.

Brewdog
Brewdog is to receive 551,000 from the Scottish Government to help open a new brewery in Elton, Aberdeenshire, where 20 jobs will be created. BrewDog plans to move production to Scotland from England and Belgium. The expansion will allow it to produce a new non-alcoholic malt-based range of soft drinks.

Terrington Gas & Fuels
Terrington Gas & Fuels has opened a fuel distribution and supply depot in Terrington St Clement, Norfolk, creating six new jobs with a further 10 expected in the 12 months to September 2013. The company aims to be the fastest-growing distributor of LPG bottled gas, coal, smokeless fuel, charcoal, and logs in the area.

Engage Mutual Services
Harrogate-based Engage Mutual, the financial services provider has maintained a strong capital position in the six months to 30 June 2012 and customer numbers have remained in excess of 500,000. Overall premiums were £29.8m and the mutual paid out £49.8m to its customers in insurance claims and savings pay-outs and maturities. Staff numbers have increased by 14 to 203. Senergy Holdings
Engineering consultancy Senergy has moved to a larger site in Edinburgh and will create 10 technical and support staff jobs over the two years to 2014. The company currently employs 16 staff in Edinburgh. The new site has capacity for 40 people.

Exova Group
Exova, a consultancy and laboratory service, is investing £3m to create a corrosion centre in Dudley, West Midlands, which will be fully operational by May 2013 and will service increasing global demand. Exova will recruit 10 corrosion experts and create the Exova Academy.

Marchini Curran Associates
Marchini Curran Associates, which provides architectural and interior design services, has relocated its Nottingham office to new premises in the Lace Market area of the city. It has recruited five additional team member as part of our strategy for growth.

Fsc Investment Services
FSC Investment Services, a West Midlands based financial planning and investment firm, has recruited three more employees and further jobs are expected. The firm is creating a team which will raise awareness of the Retail Distribution Review with legal and accountancy firms in the region.
