The Recruitment & Employment Confederation has published a report stating that
employer confidence to recruit in the short and long term has reached the
highest level since 2009. 72% of employers plan to increase the number
of permanent employees over the next quarter, with 70% expecting to increase
permanent hires over the coming 12 months. For temporary roles, 34% of employers
plan to increase the level of agency workers used, whilst virtually the entire
balance of employers intend to keep temporary staffing levels
constant. The Recruitment and Employment Confederation's director of
research, Roger Tweedy, said: "The overall figures from quarter one are really
positive. Looking forward, employers tell us they plan to make more job offers
over both the short and medium term - particularly for permanent roles.”
