Job announcements for March week 5

The following employers announced rapid growth, new contract wins and expansion plans, each indicating a growing demand for employees:

Metro Bank Plc
Metro Bank Plc has opened a new branch in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, creating 22 jobs, as part of a wider plan to open 10 branches in the south east in 2012. Staff headcount is expected to double in the future.

IPPlus Plc
ICT company IPPlus Plc has opened an office in Lancaster as part of its north west expansion. It plans to recruit up to 5 staff for the new office by November 2012, with further recruitment expected if the business performs well. IPPlus Plc has an annual turnover of 7m and employs 220 staff.

Lloyds Banking Group PLC
Lloyds Banking Group is creating 500 jobs in its Verde business. The group is to sell the 632-branch Verde business under European competition rules in return for receiving state aid, creating jobs at telephone banking operations in Sunderland, Gloucester, Livingston, Birmingham and Swansea.

West Midlands Homebased Care Ltd
West Midlands Homebased Care has secured contracts with local authorities in Warwickshire and Walsall. It plans to create 150 jobs as a result of the new contracts which will start in spring 2012. The company provides 24-hour care support services to people in their own homes and communities.

The Rank Group Plc
The Rank Group is opening a £5m casino in New Brighton, Merseyside, in April 2012, creating 120 jobs. The G-casino will create roles across all levels, including senior management, catering, reception, administration, and gaming operations. It continues Ranks expansion of the 35-strong Grosvenor Casino Chain.

WHICKHAM VILLA LLP
Whickham Villa LLP which specialises in providing neuro-rehabilitation services is opening a £10m rehabilitation centre in Middlesbrough, creating 100 jobs. Roles will be available for nurses, support workers, therapists, clinicians and fitness experts. The centre will specialise in rehabilitation from serious brain and spinal injuries.

Ukfast.Net Limited
Leading green internet hosting company UKFast is expanding and creating 100 jobs after receiving a £1.2m loan from the Manchester Corporate Banking Centre of the Co-operative Bank. The company has acquired three new buildings in Manchester as future data centres. It services over 4,000 UK and international clients.

Patrington Haven Leisure Park Limited
Patrington Haven Leisure Park in East Yorkshire is opening a £5m country club in May 2012, creating 60 jobs.

North Lanarkshire Council
North Lanarkshire Council has restructured its land management service, creating 54 new permanent part-time and 161 seasonal positions. It has consolidated fleet and depot operations saving more than 1m in the first year alone.

Plymouth University
Plymouth University is collaborating with JEOL (UK) Ltd to open a specialist microscopy centre at the university. Up to 50 jobs could be created as result of a 1.3m investment in new machinery and support for around 120 local businesses.
