An abundance of positive stories from across the UK in this week's press
identified plenty of opportunities for pro-active job-seekers to jump ahead of
those who wait for the adverts:
Nestle UK Ltd
The food giant’s
profits have risen 8% to £6.5billion in 2011. The company is investing £500
million and creating 425 new jobs.
Avaloq Innovation Ltd
Switzerland-based Avaloq, which creates software for banks, has opened a
software development centre in Edinburgh. The city was chosen because of its
number of IT professionals. The new centre will employ 400 software engineers
during the first four years, increasing to 500 in four to seven years.
Dyson James Ltd
Wiltshire-based domestic appliance manufacturer
Dyson has increased its turnover to more than £1bn and plans to create 300 jobs,
including 200 engineering jobs. 150 of the new roles will be for graduates.
Utilitywise Limited
Energy adviser Utilitywise is to open a new
office in Tyne and Wear, creating 200 jobs during 2012. The company relocated in
January 2012 after outgrowing its former base. The new office will double its
workforce.
Six Degrees Managed Data Ltd
Warwickshire-based Six
Degrees Managed Data Ltd has secured a long-term £25m credit agreement to
support its ongoing expansion. The firm plans to growth organically and through
acquisitions and aims to increase profits to £15m by the end of 2012. It
currently employs approximately 100 people and this number could double over the
two years to 2014.
Swinton Group Ltd
Insurance firm Swinton Group
has entered into an agreement with vehicle information firm HPI which will
create 100 jobs. Swinton will give customers a weeks free comprehensive
insurance cover when they purchase a new car from HPI. Swinton's 2010 turnover
was £277.9m and it had 4,704 employees.
The Prince's Trust
Youth
charity The Prince's Trust is creating 100 jobs for unemployed young people.
They will be employed as job ambassadors and will assist other unemployed young
people. The initiative will start in Wolverhampton and will be rolled out across
the country.
DRIAS Transnat Ltd
US company DRIAS Transnat Ltd which
provides outsourced functions to the insurance sector, is opening a European
Centre of Excellence in Cardiff, creating 50 jobs over two years. The expansion
is supported with £162,000 from the Welsh Government’s Economic Growth Fund
Bromium UK Limited
Cambridge technology startup Bromium has
increased from zero to 30 staff and is still hiring. The company received $9.2m
funding in summer 2011 and has operations in Cambridge UK and California USA. It
is about to launch the second generation of its security software.
RIGNEY DOLPHIN (NI) LIMITED
IT company Rigney Dolphin has began
recruiting for 30 new IT Jobs after securing a contract to provide support
services to the Cleveland Clinic in the US. The 30 new roles will be in clinical
and support services.
Gaia-Wind Limited
Gaia-Wind Ltd has secured a
£5m contract to supply 200 turbines to renewable energy provider Myriad CEG
Power. The contract will lead to the creation of 20 jobs in Glasgow. The
contract will enhance Gaia-Wind's position as the UK's leading manufacturer of
small wind turbines.
Maximus IT Limited
IT recruiter Maximus details
strong growth plans for 2012, investing £400k in the business and moving to a
new premises in the centre of London. Will double staffing levels from 17 to 40.
Extramile Communications Limited
Marketing firm ExtraMile
Communications has expanded its workforce from four to six over the three months
to February 2012 and is now recruiting three more employees. It is also seeking
larger premises following business growth. ExtraMile specialises in
international, multi-lingual email marketing.
Eve Taylor (London)
Limited
Peterborough-based skincare manufacturer Eve Taylor (London) Ltd
expects turnover to grow to £2.2m in 2012 from £1.7m in 2011. The company
employs 18 staff and plans to create 4 more jobs and expand in Asia during the
year.
EAE Limited
Scotland based leaflet distributor EAE has won a
new contract to distribute more than five million brochures and leaflets to
approximately 5,000 sites for Historic Scotland, the National Trust for
Scotland, the Scottish Parliament and VisitScotland. As a result 4 new jobs will
be created.
Anglia DNA Services Ltd
Norwich-based Anglia DNA
Services is investing £500,000, creating at least 3 jobs. Sales have increased
30% since a contract to supply Boots was secured. Talks to supply to the kits to
further stores are underway. Turnover is expected to increase from £1.2m to
£1.7m in 2012.
Colin Higgins & Associates Limited
Marketing and
PR specialist Colin Higgins & Associates has moved to new premises in
Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, creating new jobs as it expands.
