Job announcements for Feb week 3 ... before the job ads are written

Approaching an employer cold asking for an employment opportunity is tough. Much better to approach an employer that you know is growing fast or has ambitious plans for expansion. If any of the below announcements from this week's press match your ambitions then try getting in touch before they publicise the jobs:

Bishop Fleming
Bishop Fleming is recruiting 8 new employees after acquiring Bath-based Target Accountants, which is expanding at a rate of 15% a year and has gained more business since joining Bishop Fleming.

Blinkbox Entertainment Limited
Blinkbox has hired former Argos head of ecommerce Kate Simon as its first marketing director and is tripling its staff count in the face of fierce competition from LoveFilm and Netflix. The company has hired 30 people and is recruiting for an additional 40, taking its total head count to 120 by April 2012.

Robert Bosch Ltd
Bosch Lawn and Garden is opening a research and development centre in Suffolk, creating up to 100 jobs for technically skilled engineers. Parent company Robert Bosch recorded turnover of £322m in 2010.

Etihad Airlines Ltd
Etihad Airlines Ltd has opened a call centre at Manchester Airport. The airline has doubled daily flights from Manchester and plans to increase staff headcount at the airport from 100 to 300 by the end of 2012. The call centre will take calls from customers booking flights 27 countries and will provide a 24-hour service.

Gap Personnel Holdings Limited
Industrial recruitment agency Gap Personnel has opened an office in Bristol where it will employ up to ten recruitment and administration staff. The company expects demand for recruitment services in the city to increase following the opening of a £20m regional distribution centre for the Co-operative Group and the development of the Temple Quarter enterprise zone.

London Underground Ltd
London Underground Ltd is recruiting 300 customer service assistants for its Tube stations to fill vacancies created by natural wastage and internal promotion. London underground recorded £1.92bn turnover for the year to March 2011 and employed 18,054 staff.

Phase Vision Ltd
Loughborough engineering firm Phase Vision is to create jobs and expand internationally after securing a £1.5 million investment. The company is looking to sell its products in Asia, America and Europe. It hopes to create at least eight jobs in sales, support and production by the end of 2012.

Ryanair UK Limited
Low-cost airline Ryanair are creating 1,000 new jobs in 2012 as it opens new bases across in Manchester, Billund in Denmark, Wroclaw in Poland, Palma in Spain and Paphos in Cyprus. The Company will be looking to recruit additional pilots, cabin crew, engineers and sales and marketing personnel, increasing its payroll by 10% to nearly 8,000 in total. Its fleet will expand from 270 to 305 aircraft in 2012 in expectation of an increase in traffic from 76m passengers last year to 80m this year.

Virgin Media Ltd
TELECOMS company Virgin Media has announced 620 jobs will be created across the country, including 250 at their Swansea Call Centre and 120 positions for their apprenticeship scheme. Recruitment for the positions will start immediately.

EMS Internet Limited
Web design company EMS Internet Ltd is creating at least 30 new jobs after opening a second office in Warrington, Cheshire. Up to 50 jobs could eventually be created at the office. Since it started trading in 1999, EMS has built up a client-base of more than 20,000 customers.

Red Brick Road Ltd
London-based marketing agency, The Red Brick Road, has secured Japanese car and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki's £8m creative account. The new business has the potential to create jobs. The agency's year to December 2010 turnover was £36.07m.

Barclays
Barclays Plc is creating 1,000 new apprenticeship roles for its offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sunderland, Birmingham, London, Northampton and Coventry. The roles will be based in its retail and business banking division, starting in April 2012.

ELC Group
Following a period of strong growth, pharmaceutical regulatory affairs company, ELC-Group Ltd, has relocated its global HQ from Prague, Czech Republic to Cambridge, UK, potentially creating employment and business opportunities.

Axis Communications
Network video specialist Axis Communications is opening a Northern European headquarters in Watford, Hertfordshire to capitalise on expected growth of more than 30% in the UK CCTV market by 2016.

Screen Yorkshire
Screen Yorkshire expects to create hundreds of jobs with a new £15m fund to invest in the creative and digital industries. The organisation, which supports the film, TV, games and interactive media industries in Yorkshire & Humber, has been awarded £7.5m.

Orchard Energy
Energy management consultancy Orchard Energy is expanding into the Midlands and South East. By February 2012 it plans to have teams in place in Redhill, Surrey; and Northampton; and is also creating new jobs at its head office in West Yorkshire.
