A banking job? There's still lots of interest

A British survey has suggested that about 16 per cent hope to work as a banker or stockbroker compared with five per cent considering the engineering sector. People think banking, retail and tourism are more important to the economy than engineering.

The survey prompted claims that the engineering industry was being “undervalued”.

It was also claimed that people still wrongly characterise the sector with “getting their hands dirty and wearing overalls”, despite the prevalence of advanced technical jobs.
