Rolls-Royce Builds New Partnerships

Rolls-Royce, has had another successful week after securing a major deal and forming a partnership with fellow aero engine makers, Pratt and Whitney. As well as winning a £300 million navy deal with the US Department of Defense, Rolls-Royce celebrated the delivery of the first Airbus A380 aircraft to a Chinese airline. The aircraft is the first of five ordered by China Southern Airlines, equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines. Phil Harris, Rolls-Royce Senior Vice President of Civil Aerospace said, “We are proud that our market leading Trent technology is powering China Southern Airlines’ new fleet of A380 aircraft, the first to enter service in China.” Finally, after agreeing to sell its share in engine making consortium International Aero Engines, Rolls-Royce have agreed a partnership with Pratt and Whitney to develop engines for the Boeing 737 which is currently held by rival consortium CFM.
