Boost to nuclear industry could mean a boost for graduate jobs

Civil engineering, construction and other engineering graduates will be interested to learn that the nuclear new-build programme of eight new nuclear power plants is going ahead, following the final report by HM chief inspector of nuclear installations, Dr Mike Weightman, into implications for the UK nuclear industry following the Japanese earthquake and tsunami..

The report focused on safety and risk assessment. Chris Huhne, the secretary of state for energy and Climate Change, reportedly told the House of Commons that the report ‘confirmed that the UK’s current safety regime is working, and that regulators and industry should continue to work together to make continuous improvements to nuclear safety.’
