Despite predictions of spending cuts and job losses, the public sector remains the most popular destination for students, according to annual research published this week by the Trendence Institute to coincide with the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards.
It's the fourth straight year the public sector has topped the rankings, after toppling investment banking in 2007.Investment banking continues to drift in popularity (now 14th), though retail banking and financial services are on the up (sixth).
