NHS looks to private sector

A DERBY finance recruitment firm has reported a significant increase in demand from the NHS for private sector workers over the past year.

The Sellick Partnership, which has offices in Friar Gate, said over the last 12 months there had been a 52% increase in demand for commercial candidates within the NHS, particularly for permanent senior roles.

The firm said its NHS clients across the East Midlands were increasingly seeking executive level individuals with strong transferable skills, good business acumen and a commercial business background, particularly from areas such as retail, manufacturing, professional services and pharmaceuticals.

Nikki Graham, manager at Sellick's Derby office, said: "There has been a significant increase in demand for commercial candidates, which I believe is a real positive sign for the region's job seekers.

"We are also slowly seeing this trend move into other areas within the public sector."
