Jobs of the future

A recent government report, Jobs of the Future, outlines where, as a result of expected growth and emerging global trends, new jobs could be created in the UK economy of the future. It identifies how the UK’s labour market is set to change, the potential employment opportunities that key sectors of our economy could generate and Government action to equip our workforce to win their fair share of these jobs, including the National Skills Strategy and the Higher Education Framework.

The Paper takes a sector by sector approach to employment and development opportunities in the future starting with the four sectors for which the government has recently published strategies, which are the low carbon economy, life science, advanced manufacturing and the digitial economy and creative industries.
