More than one in 10 new roles created by Tesco in the first half of the year have gone to workers over the age of 50, according to data from the supermarket. Tesco says it created 4,162 new jobs between March and September, in 68 newly opened stores and distribution centres across the UK and Northern Ireland, half way to its target of 9,000 new jobs over the year. The supermarket adds that of the new jobs created in the first six months of the year, 47% (1,956) were offered to under 25-year-olds and 11% (440) to employees over the age of 50.
